Edmary Altamiranda has the degrees of Systems Engineer (1995), Master of Science in Control Engineering (1997) and Doctor in Applied Sciences – Intelligent Control Systems (2003) from Universidad de Los Andes, Merida – Venezuela. More than 25 years of combined Industrial, Academic and Research experience. Edmary has held positions within Process Control and Automation Engineering at Petroquímica de Venezuela SA (1994-2003), Assistant Professor at Universidad de Pamplona – Colombia for the Systems Engineering,  Electronic Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering departments (2003-2005)  in the areas of Control Systems and Artificial Intelligence. Postdoctoral Fellow at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg – Sweden, for the Energy and Environment Department, Division of Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Machines and Drives Systems Group (2005-2006) in the area of Intelligent Control for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines, Senior and Principal Engineer Subsea Controls Systems at GE Oil & Gas and Baker Hughes GE in Stavanger – Norway (2006-2018), Controls Lead Subsea Technology & Digitalization (2018-2020) current position at Aker BP ASA, Stavanger – Norway.  

Applied research experience in parallel with the industrial experience for all positions held.  In her current position, Edmary is working in various R&D, technology onboarding projects and Joint Industry Programs with various industrial and academic partners, including co-supervision of PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. The technology areas included in the diverse programs and projects cover: All Electric Subsea Systems, Subsea Wireless Communications, Resident Underwater Vehicles and Drones, Subsea IoT, Subsea Power & Processing, Intelligent Control and Supervision, Production Optimization, Field Architecture Optimization, Reliability, Availability, Maintenance & Safety, Next Generation Subsea Control Systems with special focus on Digital Twin technology. Edmary is member of the IEEE Control Systems, Industrial Applications and Oceanic Engineering Societies. She has been contributing with publications and peer-reviews, to various international conferences and journals within the Automation, Control Systems, Intelligent Systems, Subsea Systems, Systems Engineering and Digital Twin fields.
