Welcome to NIST and the 2019 IEEE Global Blockchain Summit.
This is the main flagship event of the IEEE Blockchain Initiative, a three year program formed by IEEE Future Directions. The Initiative has a number of different activities including events, publications, educational activities and standards, and we would encourage you to get involved.
It is very fitting that this event is being held at NIST, whose vision is to promote equitable standards, as well as stimulating innovation, fostering industrial competitiveness, and improving quality of life. IEEE itself is a major Standards Development Organization (SDO) with a number of blockchain standards initiatives in areas such as energy trading, IoT, healthcare and agriculture. In addition to hosting, NIST are Gold Sponsors of the event. We are also working with the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) to bring leading US government Blockchain initiatives for this event. The event is supported by the IEEE Future Directions as well.
We would like to thank all our sponsors for making this event possible, and encourage you to visit their exhibits. We have been fortunate to attract a wide range of industry and policy leaders from across the world to provide thought-provoking talks at the Summit, and would also like to thank the speakers for their time in making this event possible.
