Workshop on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies

Overview

The rise and widespread adoption of blockchain technology is poised to significantly transform the operation and management of digital and networking systems. However, implementing blockchain also introduces a range of complex challenges and new demands, presenting research communities with fresh, open questions and hurdles to overcome.

As a powerful tool for achieving decentralized consensus, blockchain has been effectively applied in digital currencies, such as Bitcoin, serving as a public ledger for transactions. Its secure architecture, which supports distributed computing systems with high fault tolerance, has garnered global attention. Blockchain holds significant potential to lay new foundations for our socioeconomic systems by establishing trust among people and machines, reducing costs, and optimizing resource utilization. On one hand, blockchain is expected to play a crucial role in secure decentralization across emerging fields such as the Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, edge computing, social networking, crowdsourcing, and next-generation wireless communications, among others. On the other hand, its development must continue evolving to address scalability, security, privacy, efficiency, flexibility, availability, true decentralization, and high reliability.

The Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies workshop will take place in Tokyo, Japan, during IEEE DSC 2024, which runs from November 6-8, 2024. This workshop aims to foster comprehensive discussions within the community to identify cutting-edge applications and theory fundamentals related to distributed ledgers and blockchain technologies. We welcome paper submissions that present innovative techniques, explore new applications, introduce advanced methodologies, propose promising research directions, and address unresolved issues.

Submission Instructions

Papers must be written in English and should not exceed eight (8) pages, inclusive of figures, tables, references, and an appendix using IEEE Conference Proceedings Manuscripts style (two-columns, single-spaced, 10-point fonts). The materials presented in the papers should be original and not be published before or under submission/review. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings and be eligible for submission to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. At least one of the authors of any accepted paper is requested to register the paper at the conference.

Paper templates can be downloaded from IEEE website.
