Ashok Mysore

Infosys, Vice-President and Regional Head for Australia and New Zealand

Ashok Mysore has over three decades of experience in various sectors including Telecommunications, Financial Services, Logistics, Energy, Utilities, and Services. As the Vice-President and Regional Head for Australia and New Zealand, he is tasked with fostering a culture of high performance within a diverse and skilled team. His goal is to drive accelerated and profitable growth in challenging markets by providing value and enhancing internal efficiencies.

Ashok became a part of Infosys in 2004 to lead their telecommunications division. Since then, he has held several positions, culminating in his appointment as the Regional COO in 2014. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing delivery and operations across Australia and New Zealand. His extensive background includes expertise in strategy, sales leadership, general management, and consulting in regions spanning Australia, New Zealand, the United States, India, and South-East Asia.

In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, Ashok received the IABCA Business Leader of the Year 2019 Award. He also serves on various advisory boards, customer steering committees, and program boards. His involvement with the Australian Computer Society is noteworthy, and he frequently shares his insights as a speaker in industry, academic, and partner ecosystem events.

Prof. Pompeu Casanovas

Research Professor at La Trobe University

Prof. Pompeu Casanovas holds at present the Chair on AI, Law and Ethics of the Spanish National Research Council at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC) and is Adjunct Professor at La Trobe University. He has also been Research Professor at La Trobe University Law School, CI or Key Researcher in multiple H2020 projects, and the Director of Advanced Research and a Professor of Law and Legal Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

His research interests span various areas, including philosophy, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, legal theory, and regulatory models for the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0. He is also the founder and former Head of the UAB Institute of Law and Technology. He has authored or edited over 30 books and more than 200 scientific articles in the field of Law and Technology, intellectual history, and philosophy, in several languages. Prof. Casanovas has been involved in numerous projects and grants worldwide, contributing significantly to the field of legal technology and knowledge. He holds degrees in Law and Philosophy, and PhDs in Philosophy and Legal Anthropology.  He has conducted research at various prestigious universities and centres, including CNRS, CNR, University of Bologna, University of California San Diego and Stanford University. Prof. Casanovas is proficient in Catalan, Spanish, French, and Italian and has held academic positions at several universities across the globe, including Deakin University and Victoria University in Australia. Additionally, he has served as a consultant and professor in the field of Legal Methodology and Artificial Intelligence at the Open University of Catalonia.

Jose Moreira

General Manager at Siemens

Jose Moreira is the National Manager of Digital Grid at Siemens Australia, responsible for the company’s portfolio of Grid Control and Metering products, SCADA systems, protection and control equipment systems, microgrids and software services. Jose began his career with Siemens in Brazil in 2000 as an Electrical Engineer, working on power systems and energy automation projects. Subsequent roles have provided him deep experience with power systems, energy automation, software development and project management in diverse industries including renewables, infrastructure, transportation and manufacturing.

Prof. Katina Michael

Professor at Arizona State University

Katina Michael BIT, MTransCrimPrev, PhD (Senior Member IEEE, ACM SIGCAS), is a Professor with Arizona State University and a Senior Global Futures Scientist with the Global Futures Laboratory. At ASU, she has a joint appointment with the School for the Future of Innovation in Society and School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence. Katina is the Director of the Society Policy Engineering Collective, the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society and was formerly Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Technology and Society Magazine and Editor at Computers & Security. In 2013, she was the Technical Program Chair of IEEE ISTAS on the theme of the “Social Implications of Wearable Computing and Augmediated Reality in Every Day Life” hosted at the University of Toronto. Katina has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Australian Research Council. Prior to academia, she was employed by Nortel Networks, Anderson Consulting, and OTIS Elevator Company.

Dr. Roba Abbas

Senior Lecturer at University of Wollongong (UOW)

Roba Abbas (Member IEEE, ACM) is a Senior Lecturer of Operations and Systems in the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia. She was the Academic Program Director of the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Business Administration programs between 2021-22. She has served in research, teaching, and governance roles in multiple schools including Engineering and Informatics from 2007. Roba was also a Visiting Professor with the School for the Future of Innovation in Society in the College of Global Futures at Arizona State University in 2022. She is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society, and previously the Associate Editor and Administrator of the IEEE Technology and Society Magazine. Roba is also the Technical Committee Chair of the Socio-Technical Systems Committee of the IEEE. Prior to academia, Roba was employed by a web design and development company.
