Dr Nishad Mendis, Bureau Veritas, Australia
Dr. Nishad Mendis is a Senior Electrical Engineer working in Bureau Veritas, and in DNV GL’s Energy Advisory group in Melbourne, Australia. Before joining DNV GL, Nishad worked for Eltek as a Solutions Engineer working on the design of implementation of energy storage-based applications, Alstom Grid as a Design and Commissioning Engineer for HV substations, and Noratel as a Design Engineer. Nishad has over ten years of professional experience including a Ph.D. in the “Design of Wind Dominated Hybrid Remote Area Power Supply Systems“ from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and a bachelor of Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Nishad also currently holds IEEE Senior membership and serves as IEEE IAS Technical Chapter Chair for R‐10 covering South East Asia and Pacific Countries. Also, he is currently serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access Journal. Nishad has published many conference and journal papers with IEEE. At present, he is serving as an Honorary Fellow for School of Electrical Engineering for Deakin University, Australia.
Dr Hadi Lomei, Essential Energy, Australia
Hadi Lomei (S’14) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran, in 2010 and the M.Sc. (Hons.) degree from Shahrood University of Technology, Shahrood, Iran, in 2012. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Shahrood University of Technology. He is also a Research Assistant with Khorasan Regional Electric Company, Mashhad, Iran. His research interests are power system dynamics, stability, operation, and renewable energy resources.
Dr. Julius Susanto, Australian Energy Market Commission, Australia
Dr. Julius Susanto (SMIEEE, MIEAust) is a Chartered electrical engineer with over 20 years of industry experience across most of the electricity supply chain, including working with the Australian Energy Market Commission, the Australian Energy Market Operator, Transgrid, DIgSILENT and Worley. He has postgraduate qualifications in electrical power engineering (PhD) and economics (Grad Dip).
Dr. Julius Susanto will be coordinating with A/Prof. Lasantha Meegahapola to provide tutorial on the topic titled ‘Frequency and Voltage Control in Renewable-Rich Power Grids‘.
