Student Submissions

IEEE SSIT Student Event

We invite all undergraduate and graduate students working on or interested in AI and the social implications of technology to submit an abstract for presentation at the IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS 2025) student conference, to be held as a hybrid event in Santa Clara, California, USA on 10 – 12, September 2025. There will be a $150 registration fee for presenters to attend the student event, for hardship options contact student-track@istas25.org

Each abstract will go through the review process to assess quality, level of the work, relevance, and methodological vigor. There will be an option to present remotely if you are unable to travel to the USA. Presenters will have an opportunity to meet, discuss, and network with researchers and educators from academia and industry. The event will provide an environment in which students already working and students new to the field can ask questions and share lessons learned. Remote presenters need to send a video recording of their 5-10 minute presentation. This video will be used if an internet problem occurs in a remote presentation and will be part of an audio/video collage available to attendees.

Students working and/or interested in the social implication of Technology areas primarily including but not limited to Social Implication of Artificial Intelligence, Climate change, Ethics and human values, Health & safety technology systems, and Sustainable technology are encouraged to submit an abstract.
