ABOUT PUEBLA, MEXICO

Puebla, officially Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza, is the capital of the homonymous state and the fourth largest city in Mexico. It is located in a valley framed by mountains and volcanoes, including Iztaccíhuatl, Popocatépetl, La Malinche and Pico de Orizaba, and is crossed from north to south by the Atoyac River.

Puebla was founded in 1531 with the name “Puebla de los Angeles” due to the retinue of angels that appeared in the dreams of its founder, Bishop Julián Garcés, inspiring him the meticulous layout of the streets of the Historic Center of the city, today full of architectural jewels of baroque and neoclassical style, and which, in 1987, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Climate

Puebla has a subtropical climate, with a maximum temperature of 36°C and a minimum temperature of 9°C. In winter, cold fronts cause temperatures below zero. The rainy season is from May to October.

The average annual temperature of the state is 17.5 C, the average maximum temperature is 28.5 C and occurs in the months of April and May, the average minimum temperature is 6.5 C during the month of January.

The city of Puebla borders to the north with the state of Tlaxcala, to the south with the municipalities of Santo Domingo Huehuetlán and Teopantlán, to the east with Amozoc, Cuautinchán and Tzicatlacoyan and to the west with Cuautlancingo, San Andrés Cholula and Ocoyucan.

The city has the Hermanos Serdán International Airport as the air link with other cities in Mexico and abroad. It is connected by land through the Mexico-Puebla highway, the Puebla-Orizaba highway and Federal Highway No.129.

You will arrive at Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City. Then you must take a bus to Puebla city from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 in the same Airport.
