New Era AI Summit 24-Aug-24

The Innovation Renaissance, IEEE New Era World Leaders AI Summit was a resounding success.

The 140th-anniversary celebration of IEEE was marked by an awe-inspiring event—the New Era World Leaders AI summit. Held in Seattle on 24-Aug. This World AI Summit featured world-renowned visionaries—thinkers who don’t just share information but envision transformative possibilities. Welcome remarks by IEEE 2024 President Tom Coughlin, and IEEE-USA 2025 President-elect Tim Lee. Plus a presentation by US Senator Maria Cantwell, followed by a panel discussion on the future of AI moderated by Dr. Sheree Wen, Summit organizer.

Keynote speakers included President of Microsoft Research, Dr. Peter Lee, who pioneered AI research; Google VP, Fellow and CTO, Dr. Blaise Agüera Arcas, a true master with AI insight; Juan Lavista Ferres, Microsoft Corporate VP, Chief Data Scientist of AI for Good, who uses AI to improve the survival rate of deadliest liver or kidney cancers by 20x or more. Dr. Kristin Lauter, Senior Director of FAIR Labs;  Dr. Bill Dally, Chief Scientist at Nvidia Research; and Dr. Stefano Soatto, VP of AWS AI Labs. Institutional leaders include UW Prof. Steven Brunton, NSF AI Institute in Dynamic Systems; UW Professor Blake Hannaford, who uses AI with touch feelings that can do robotic operations on nerves to remove brain tumors and more; Prof. Chirag Shah, UW Co-Founder of RAISE and US DOD AI CTO Ramesh Menon.

The discussions weren’t mere intellectual exercises; they held the promise of revolutionizing AI applications. These thought leaders explored cutting-edge ideas, pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve. Their insights have the potential to reshape our technological landscape.

The summit wasn’t just about knowledge dissemination; it was a catalyst for change. The insights shared here will ripple through research labs, startups, and established companies, harnessing AI’s transformational power to realize the vision into reality.
