David Mindham

David Mindham brings several years of experience in transmission and energy markets. David’s present position is Regulatory & Market Affairs Manager for EDP Renewables North America. In that role, he oversees RTO strategy for the central U.S., including ERCOT, SPP, and MISO. He also coordinates with FERC, state regulators, and various trade associations. Before his current role, he has held positions in RTO strategy, FERC strategy, and transmission planning at ITC Holdings Corp. He has successfully negotiated interconnection agreements that have brought more than 3 GW of resources online throughout the Midwest. He has broad experience in engineering, policy, finance, and economics.

EDPR North America is a leading developer of wind, solar, and storage based in Houston, Texas. EDPR operates 6.3 GW of renewable resources across North America, with several more GW in development. The company ranks fourth in the United States in terms of net installed wind capacity, has more than 2,300 turbines in operation, and more than 40 million hours of wind turbine operational history.

He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Tech University, a Master’s focused in Management from Harvard University Extension School, and is presently in the Masters of Applied Economics program at Johns Hopkins University. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan, and a Project Management Professional. David lives in Novi, MI, with his wife and son.
