Parking Details:

On-campus parking is restricted at all times to permit or payment unless otherwise signed. You can purchase a printable parking permit in advance or pay upon arrival using ParkMobile.

Advance-Purchase Parking (recommended, print before arrival):  

You must have access to a printer to use this option, and you will get unlimited parking and entry/exits for July 16-20, 2023 at one set price. There is not an option for single-day passes with Advance Purchase. Visit https://cornell.clickandpark.com/event, select your conference (IEEE ProComm 2023), pay via credit card, and download a printable parking permit. When you arrive at your specified parking lot, display your printed permit on your dash. NOTE: when going through the order process vehicle information is not required. You MUST have your printed pass with you upon entry.

ParkMobile Access Parking (on Arrival) :

You can use ParkMobile to purchase a low-cost parking for specific parking zones on campus.

Choose the transaction method that works best for you:

Descending order, from closest to furthest

  • The nearest ParkMobile access is coded #4121. This is Hoy Garage.
  • ParkMobile #2312 is limited to one or two spots.
  • ParkMobile #4123 looks far away on the map, but it’s only two blocks from the venue.
  • ParkMobile #4111 is about a 5-8 minute walk to venue.
  • ParkMobile #4131 is about a 5-8 minute walk to venue.

Ithaca City Bus Details

TCAT is the bus system that serves the Ithaca area. TCAT’s website hosts several live-mapping options for planning your bus trips.   https://tcatbus.com/ . Bus fare is $1.50 each trip for folks 18-59; for those 60+, the cost is $0.75 per trip. 

Here are some TCAT routes that may assist you getting to the venue. For other route planning, please use one of the apps at https://tcatbus.com/

  • Best Western Hotel to venue (morning)
    • ProComm is offering a free shuttle. It will leave at 8am from the conference hotel (Best Western). If you miss the shuttle, use one of the solutions below.
    • 8:01am: catch TCAT bus 51 just outside the hotel (the clerk will show you where). Disembark at the Hoy@Hoy Field Stop. Upson Hall is across the street. Predicated time: 13 minutes
    • 8:14am: take bus 82 and disembark at the Hoy@Hoy Field Stop. (the clerk will show you where). Disembark at the Hoy@Hoy Field Stop. Upson Hall is across the street. Predicated time: 13 minutes
  • Downtown Ithaca/Ithaca Commons (morning)
    • 7:59am, 8:19am, and every 20 minutes: catch TCAT bus 10 at 202 E Seneca Street. Disembark at the Sage Hall Stop. Upson Hall will be to your right (look for the glassy building with red halls that you can see through the windows.  Enter the main doors below those red halls, where you will enter a grand, long space.  ProComm is on the other side of the common eating/study space.)
    • 7:57am: catch TCAT bus 21 at 131 E Green Street. Disembark at the Hoy@Hoy Field Stop. Upson Hall is across the street. Predicated time: 13 minutes

To Ithaca:

Ithaca is within proximity to several airports, and the major hub of New York City. There are multiple options to get here.

By Air:

  • Ithaca Tompkins Regional: Ithaca has an airport, and participants could fly in directly.  Airlines currently include Delta (hub: Detroit), American (hub: Charlotte, NC), and United (hub: Dulles in Washington DC).
  • Syracuse Hancock: People using this option can rent a car and drive 45 minutes (through some very scenic spots!). There may also be a bus option via OurBus or Greyhound.
  • Elmira Corning: People using this option can rent a car and drive 35 minutes (through some very scenic spots!).
  • Kennedy, Laguardia, or Newark: People can fly into NYC and take one of many buses that travel each day to Cornell. Airport service will vary.

  • From Syracuse: <1 hour
  • From Buffalo: 3 hours
  • From NYC airports: 4.5-6 hours
  • From Philadelphia: 4-5 hours

Notes:

  • Every road into Ithaca is a two-lane drive for the last few miles.
  • There are no trains to Ithaca.

Many other accommodations are available, as are AirBnB offerings, etc. 

  • Statler Hotel: $$$$ On the Cornell campus, across the street from the proposed venue of Upson/Phillips Hall or around the corner from the ILR Conference Center.  
  • Best Western University Inn: $$$ Near campus. Bus runs regularly to campus.  Recommended for blocks of rooms at a decent cost. 
  • Hilton Ithaca Garden Inn: Downtown Ithaca with regular buses running to campus frequently. $$$.  Right across from Ithaca Commons, our charming downtown area. 
  • Ithaca Marriott: $$$. On Ithaca Commons. Recommended for blocks of rooms at a decent cost. 
  • Hampton Inn: $$$. Not near campus, but maybe a better deal for some users. Will require a car or taxi service to get to conference facilities.
