IEEE Orlando Section
The IEEE Orlando Section is an active and thriving section composed of five Central Florida counties with over 1000 members.
Anchored by the city of Orlando geographically, the sections’ area stretches to other major regional cities such as Sanford, Kissimmee, and Leesburg as well. Due to its central location within the state of Florida, the Orlando section borders six other IEEE sections, more than any other in the state. These sections include Canaveral, Daytona, Florida West Coast, Gainesville, Melbourne, and Palm Beach IEEE Sections.
Orlando is home to a large and diverse group of technology companies where many of the Orlando section’s members work. Aerospace and Defense as well as Leisure and Hospitality are the two largest industries in the area. Companies that have operations in Orlando include Boeing, Disney, General Dynamics, L3 Harris, Lockheed Martin, Leidos, NASA, NBC Universal, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, Siemens, US Department of Defense, and others.
The section is also home to two of the largest educational institutions in the country by enrollment, The University of Central Florida (UCF) and Valencia College. Both of these schools have active IEEE student sections composed of hundreds of their own members.
