Engineer Xochill Romero is passionate about space technology and sustainability and has knowledge and experience in remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and the use of drones to collect spatial data.
Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering and a master’s in Smart Cities and Innovation. These experiences have provided her with a solid foundation in managing geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial analysis. Through the application of these tools, she aspires to promote the development of more efficient, sustainable, and livable cities.
In her professional career, she has worked on topographic survey projects where she has applied her skills in GIS and spatial analysis to contribute to urban development in a sustainable and balanced manner. She is particularly interested in urban resilience and how cities can adapt and respond efficiently to the challenges of climate change and other natural risks.
Outside of the professional sphere, she enjoys activities such as walking and rollerblading outdoors, connecting with nature and appreciating the beauty of the countryside. Her interest in cooking reflects her passion for creativity and discovery, as she believes that food plays a crucial role in sustainability and resilience. She thinks that food systems can play a significant role in building more equitable and eco-friendly communities.

Desde 2023 se desempeña como Subgerente de Currículo (Vicerrectora Académica) del Instituto Técnico Superior Especializado (ITSE), educación superior de ciclo corto.
Es doctora en Ingeniería Informática por la Universidad de Salamanca, España. Cuenta con un Master en Tecnología y Sistemas de Información Empresarial; y una especialidad en Transformación Digital por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. La doctora Sittón se ha desempeñado a nivel nacional como: consultora de tecnología e innovación en el Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD), Directora de Informática de la Autoridad para la Atracción de Inversiones y Promoción de Exportaciones PROPANAMA, docente universitaria, entre otros.
En el ámbito científico, es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigación (SIN), investigadora asociada del Grupo de investigación en Bioinformática, Sistemas Informáticos Inteligentes y Tecnología Educativa (BISITE) de la Universidad de Salamanca y del Centro de Investigación e Innovación Educativa, Ciencia y Tecnología (CIIECYT-ITSE). Miembro del equipo editorial de la revista científica indexada Avances en Computación Distribuida e Inteligencia Artificial (ADCAIJ).
Entre sus principales reconocimientos se encuentran: el Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado de la Universidad de Salamanca en el área de Ingeniería, Doctorado con Mención Internacional Europea y ha recibido reconocimientos a sus artículos científicos por editoriales internacionales.
