Dr. Amalia Rusu is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering in School of Engineering and Computing at Fairfield University. For six years, she directed the Applied Research Lab in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and the Engineer-in-Residence program at Fairfield, in collaboration with a leading manufacturer of 3D Robot-Vision systems for real-time intelligent control and monitoring of industrial robots. Her outreach activities include organizing several Google Computer Science education workshops for secondary STEM teachers, partnering on community-engaged learning projects with non-profit organizations, and creating partnerships between academia, industry, and entrepreneurs. She participated in an ASAP AVANCE grant for advancing careers of women in STEM at undergraduate institutions through professional networks. Amalia is the Chair of IEEE-CT Joint Chapter of Computer; Systems, Man and Cybernetics, and Social Implications of Technology since 2013.
