Amanda is an accomplished leader with 20+ years of innovation and operations experience in research and product development.  Amanda currently holds the position of Research Operations Administrator for Mayo Clinic’s Department of Medicine (DOM) on the Rochester campus.  In this role she serves as the administrative partner to Departmental physician and scientist leadership driving the research, innovation, and commercialization strategy for DOM.  These innovations in drug discovery, device development, and patient outcomes research accelerate the patient care and strategic priorities of Mayo Clinic.

Prior to joining Mayo Clinic in 2014, Amanda worked as a product development engineer and engineering manager for IBM’s Systems and Technology Group.  She managed product programs and engineering staff across multiple domestic and international locations, and led critical client support for adverse datacenter events. Amanda holds more than 25 US Patents and was named a Master Inventor by IBM for her contributions to IBM’s licensable patent portfolio.  She was the second female Master Inventor named in the 50+ year history of the Rochester operations.

Amanda has a commitment to developing youth interests in innovation, scientific discovery, and engineering.  She currently serves on the Executive Committee of STEM Forward, a public-private partnership promoting STEM education in Minnesota K-12 schools, and she also is a member of The University of Iowa College of Engineering Advisory Board.  She and her husband Michael have one daughter who is in high school, and they live in Rochester, Minnesota.

Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
