Abstract: As our cities continue to grow and face the challenges of climate change, urbanization, and economic development, the concept of the 15-minute city has emerged as a promising approach to urban planning. By creating neighborhoods where people can access everything they need within a 15-minute walk or bike ride, we can reduce carbon emissions, promote healthier and more livable urban environments, and foster more equitable communities.
This panel will explore the potential of the 15-minute city concept, and the role of technology and innovation in creating smart, sustainable, and carbon-neutral cities. We will examine urban planning and design strategies that can promote walkable, bikeable neighborhoods and discuss the social and economic implications of this model of urban planning.
The panel is based on the project “National Competence Centre and solutions for the development of Climate Neutral and Smart Cities” (NetZeRoCities).
This panel will bring together experts from academia, industry, and public administration/government to explore the latest research and innovative approaches to urban planning and design. By sharing best practices and lessons learned, we hope to inspire and inform new approaches to building smart and sustainable cities.
Panelists will have 15 minutes to present their perspectives, followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A session with the audience.
