Sylvie DeLaHunt

SylvieSylvie DeLaHunt is a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer in the Air and Missile Defense Sector at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). She is President of the Society of Women Engineers affinity group at APL (SWE@APL) and a member of APL’s Employee Resource Group. Through SWE@APL, Sylvie has led numerous diversity and inclusion initiatives, including APL’s lab-wide Women’s History Month Celebration and SWE@APL’s annual College Visit Day. She was recognized with a 2018 Johns Hopkins Diversity Recognition Award. Sylvie earned her Bachelor’s (’14) and Master’s (’16) degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland (UMD). As a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, Sylvie was a founding member of UMD’s Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics student group and authored an Op-Ed in the Baltimore Sun titled, “Encouraging Female Engineers” that was featured by the Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls Facebook page. Sylvie is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ Diversity Working Group and an alumna representative on the UMD Department of Aerospace Engineering’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion.
