Martin London is an Electrical Engineer, currently working as a Distribution System Planner in the Transmission Planning group at Duquesne Light Company, the electric utility servicing the Pittsburgh region. Prior to this role, he worked in the Operations Management Scheduling group at Duquesne Light.
He is an active member in District 13 Toastmasters, and at his company, he is an active member of the EmpowerHER inclusion group. He serves as the Women in Engineering Affinity Group Chair for the IEEE Pittsburgh Section, as well as the Power and Energy Society Chair for the IEEE Pittsburgh Section.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Santa Clara University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics in 2021. During his time at Santa Clara, he was inducted into the National Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, and the Jesuit Honor Society, Alpha Sigma Nu. Throughout college, he competed for all four years on the Men’s Varsity Rowing Team and the Santa Clara Solar Powered Boat Project.
Martin joined WIE because he felt it would be a unique way for a young man to show we are all supportive in the IEEE WIE endeavor; and because he felt it would be a unique way for a recent grad engineer to help support other new grads looking for career and networking opportunities.
Having been in the engineering honor society at Santa Clara University, he is no stranger to outreach in the engineering community and would like to foster the same strength and support for local female engineers in the Pittsburgh area, having seen, firsthand, the vitality that the different perspectives of women can bring to the industry.
