Sally Musonye

Sally Musonye is the Design and Construction Engineer at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC). Her greatest achievement is working as the lead for the last mile connectivity program aimed at achieving universal access in partnership with key sector financiers such as the World Bank, AFD, AfDB, and The Government of Kenya among others. She has received training and certification on Enterprise Risk Management.

Sally holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Nairobi (UoN). She is a qualified and registered engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). She serves as the Treasurer for the Kenya Section, Chairperson for the Power and Energy Society (PES) and Region 8 (Africa) co-coordinator for the Students’ Virtual Speakers Bureau. Sally is the past chairperson for IEEE Women in Engineering (Kenya) and the Engineering Students’ Association (UoN). She is a recipient of the KPLC Excellence Award for outstanding performance and the Kenya Section Women in Engineering (WiE) Achievement Award.

Prior to joining KPLC, Sally worked as a graduate trainee at Mabati Rolling Mills Ltd. During her tenure at the organization, she supported retailers in facilitating a conducive environment for trade, business development and supply efficiency for roofing products in Central Rift market realizing an increased growth of 18 metric tons in 3 months, developed the HR Policy document and the Value Chain proposition for one of the largest roofing products’ manufacturer in East Africa.

She has been a speaker, organizer and a facilitator in local and global conferences on Power, Energy, Leadership and Strategic Plan development within IEEE and beyond. She is actively involved in mentorship, women empowerment, and community development through her representation as the founder of AshGold Africa. Recently, she published a strategic paper on The Role of Innovation in Operationalizing Decentralization of Organizational Operations in Utility Companies: Case Study of Kenya Power.
