ABOUT CHENGDU
Chengdu is located in the west of Sichuan Basin. Chengdu is one of the top ten ancient capitals in China, one of the first batch of national famous historical and cultural cities, and the birthplace of ancient Shu civilization. Jinsha site in the territory has a history of 3000 years. King Tai of Zhou named Chengdu after “gathering in one year, becoming a city in two years and Chengdu in three years”; Shuhan, Chenghan, pre Shu, post Shu and other regimes successively established their capitals here; It has always been the state and County Administration of all dynasties; One of the five major cities in China; Tang Dynasty is one of the most developed industrial and commercial cities in China, which is known as “raising one and benefiting two”; The Northern Song Dynasty was the second metropolis outside Bianjing and invented the first paper money jiaozi in the world. With Dujiangyan, Wuhou Temple, Du Fu thatched cottage, Jinsha Ruins, Ming Shu King’s mausoleum, Wangjiang tower, Qingyang palace and other places of interest, it is the best tourist city in China.
Giant Panda Breeding Research Base
Chengdu Panda Base was established in 1987. It is located in axe mountain in the northern suburb of Chengdu. It is 10 kilometers away from the urban area and covers an area of 106 hectares. With the expansion of phase III project, the base area will be expanded to 200 hectares. Up to now (2007), Chengdu Panda Base has successfully increased the number of captive giant panda population to 67 based on 6 giant pandas rescued from the wild at the initial stage of establishment. The giant panda museum has unique precious materials and rich exhibits. It is an excellent place for understanding giant pandas, returning to nature, sightseeing and entertainment. Rare and endangered animals such as giant pandas, red pandas and black necked cranes live and reproduce here leisurely.
The best time to see giant pandas is before 9:30 a.m., especially in hot summer. Once it is close to noon, the pandas will hide in the cool lounge and sleep.
JINSHA SITE
Jinsha is a national heritage site, a national archaeological site, and a national heritage site under national protection.
Jinsha site is a Shang and Zhou Dynasty site located in Jinsha village, Supo Township, west of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It is the capital of the ancient Shu Kingdom, the center of ancient civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River from the 12th century to the 7th century BC.
The site unearthed the densest ivory and the most abundant gold and jade articles in the same period in the world. Among them, the most famous is the sun god bird gold foil, which has been identified as the main pattern of Chinese cultural heritage logo and Chengdu city image logo. The discovery of Jinsha site has advanced the urban history of Chengdu to 3000 years ago, which is regarded as the beginning of the urban history of Chengdu.
Jinsha Site Museum was built and opened at the original site of Jinsha site in 2007, displaying the mysterious ancient Shu culture and unique bronze civilization. The cultural relics of Jinsha culture and Sanxingdui culture are similar, but there is no wall, which is about the last phase of Sanxingdui culture, representing a political center transfer of ancient Shu.
Dujiangyan
Dujiangyan is located in Guankou Town, Dujiangyan City, Chengdu. It is a large-scale water conservancy project built by Li Bing, the governor of Shu County of the state of Qin and his son around 256 BC and has been used to this day. It is known as “the ancestor of world water conservancy culture”. Dujiangyan water conservancy project is the world’s oldest and only grand water conservancy project characterized by dam free water diversion. It is not only a famous tourist attraction in China, but also a world cultural heritage. Dujiangyan has beautiful scenery and numerous cultural relics, mainly including Fulong temple, Erwang temple, Anlan cable bridge, Yulei pass, Lidui Park and Yulei mountain park.
