IEEE SoutheastCon

SoutheastCon is the annual IEEE Region 3 Technical, Professional, and Student Conference.

It brings together Computer Scientists, Electrical, and Computer Engineering professionals, faculty and students to share the latest information through technical sessions, tutorials, and exhibits. It is the most influential conference in Region 3 for promoting awareness of the technical contributions made by our profession to the advancement of engineering science and to the community. 

As usual, attendance and technical program participation from areas outside IEEE Region 3 are encouraged and welcomed. IEEE Region 3 encompasses the southeastern United States and includes the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, areas of Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and the country of Jamaica.

IEEE Mobile Section

The IEEE Mobile section is one of the Region 3 IEEE sections in Alabama. With more than 150 members, more than 50 members are students committed to work hard for the section and branch. We are proud to host several virtual technical meetings with national/international speakers mainly now that we are virtual due to COVID. We invite you to also be part of the IEEE network in Mobile to expand your technical knowledge, develop strong peer-to-peer connections, and hone your leadership skills. Our Student Branch work on technical projects, volunteer, and host a number of social events and technical meetings. It is located at the University of South Alabama. Please join us at some of our exciting upcoming events… everyone is welcome!

Join our discord! The planning committee is available to answer any questions you may have about SoutheastCon 2022! The discord server has channels for both student program and technical program, with focus on hardware competition, software competition, SAC competitions and authors.

Besides the University of South Alabama with more than 14,000 students, Mobile also have multiple different higher education institutions such as Coastal Alabama Community College (7,419 students), Bishop State Community College (2,860 students), University of Mobile (1,885 students), and Spring Hill College (1,379 students). Other nearby institutions include the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and the University of West Florida.

Once called the Paris of the South, Mobile has long been the cultural center of the Gulf Coast and you’ll find an authentic experience found nowhere else in the southern United States. The twelfth busiest port in the country, Mobile is the social, economic and creative hub of the entire Gulf Coast – our colorful downtown has drawn people for centuries.  Many large businesses are headquartered in downtown Mobile right next to quaint, locally-owned art galleries, shops, restaurants and bars. A fusion of economic development, innovation and old world charm!
