Edward C. Carr is the Head of Compliance with Siemens Digital Industries Software, a Siemens AG business. The Siemens Compliance System enables Siemens global businesses in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in areas including anticorruption, antitrust, human rights, collective action, export control and data privacy and additionally is responsible for providing visibility of Siemens commitment to a cultivating a strong culture of integrity across the enterprise. Prior to Siemens, Ed developed an Ethics and Compliance program for Avanade, a Microsoft and Accenture JV and previously was the Director of Ethics and Business Conduct for The Boeing Company, where he participated in developing and leading the company’s Ethics and Business Conduct Program. Ed currently serves as the Executive Board Chair of the Association of Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE). He also participates on advisory boards and in similar roles with numerous ethics focused non-profit organizations including the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI), the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the Online Ethics Center (OEC) and other organizations. Ed is a past Board Member of ECI and past Commissioner with the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission. Ed also participates in regional Ethics and Compliance forums including the Northwest Ethics Network (NWEN) and the Dallas Fort Worth Ethics and Compliance Group. Ed is an alumni (Class of 95) of the Seattle Leadership Tomorrow Program. Ed earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s of science in finance from Seattle University and completed a one year Executive Leadership Program at the University of Notre Dame. Ed is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant. | ||
Anne R. Harris is Owner and Principal, Ethics Works LLC, which she established in 2015 to help organizations mitigate risk by consulting on the design, implementation and continuous improvement of ethics and compliance programs. Ethics Works’ clients represent a variety of industries including for-profit, non-profit, NGOs, and municipal entities, and the majority are U.S. government contractors. Anne retired from General Dynamics Corporation after having served for nearly a decade as Staff Vice President and Ethics Officer. In that role, she led the global evolution of the Ethics and Business Conduct program to cover 95,000+ employees in over 45 countries. She served on the Working Group of the DII (Defense Industry Initiative on Business Ethics and Conduct) and the Steering Committee of IFBEC (International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct for the Aerospace and Defence Industry). Anne’s transition to corporate ethics followed a 20-year career in Human Resources. Her previous leadership roles included Vice President-HR at General Dynamics C4 Systems and a number of Human Resources roles in GTE Corporation. Anne has published articles in magazines such as Corporate Responsibility and National Defense. Her webinar, “Evaluating Corporate Ethics and Compliance Programs,” is offered on the Clear Law Institute’s online education site. She is a consultant to Syntrio, Inc. and provides volunteer consulting support to the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). Anne holds a B.A. degree from Smith College, in Northampton, Massachusetts, and an MBA from INSEAD, the European Institute of Business Administration, in Fontainebleau, France. She is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP®) and a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Governance Fellow. She is an active member of the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE), the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). | ||
Chitra Barth-Radhakishun is an expert in ethics, international administrative law and international dispute resolution, with over 30 years of experience in the United Nations system. She recently (Spring 2021) concluded her mandate as Chief Ethics Officer of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), one of the oldest specialized agencies of the United Nations system, in which function she also provided services to the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants, UPOV. Prior to that she served at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), a subsidiary body of the United Nations General Assembly, where she undertook and oversaw research in the areas of international trade and investment, arbitration and dispute resolution, communications and IT, as a basis for proposing policy options to further socio-economic development. She also delivered related technical assistance to member states on these issues. In UNCTAD she was also the coordinator of technical cooperation projects for the development of international trade and regional integration. Her experience includes providing expert services to other international organizations and working as legal counsel in the private sector. Chitra has widely published on ethics and dispute resolution, as well as on a variety of topics on the international agenda relative to international cooperation between the economic North and the developing South, and on emerging issues in multilateralism. She has frequently made presentations at United Nations’ and international events, for NGOs and Think Tanks, including as chair and/or moderator, and has conducted training courses and/or lectured at Universities in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Ms. Barth-Radhakishun was born in Suriname and studied law, ethics, international arbitration and development cooperation. | ||
Gretchen A. Winter, J.D. is Executive Director of the Center for Professional Responsibility in Business and Society and Clinical Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She helped develop and taught Business 101: An Introduction to Professional Responsibility, a class that builds ethical decision-making habits for all incoming students in Gies, and now teaches an elective course that delves more deeply into professional responsibility and ethical dilemmas students are likely to face in business settings. Ms. Winter also teaches in the University of Illinois College of Law and the Grainger College of Engineering City Scholars Program, the CY Cergy Paris Universite School of Law, and in corporate legal, ethics, and compliance educational programs. She’s also been a keynote speaker for corporate audiences. Ms. Winter is a past chair of the Executive Board of the Association of Practical and Professional Ethics, currently chairs the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Committee, and still serves on the APPE Board. Before joining the University, she worked at Baxter International Inc. in a variety of roles, including more than a decade as the chief ethics/compliance officer. Ms. Winter also practiced law with a firm and worked for the State of Illinois General Assembly. Ms. Winter received her J.D. from the University of Chicago and her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has served on numerous not-for-profit boards of directors as well as on various statewide higher education boards of trustees. |
