AI for fiber optics and photonic signal processing
Driven by digital technology and big data, artificial intelligence (AI), as an important tool, has quickly gained interests in specialty optical fibers and advanced fiber photonics research. AI-related techniques such as artificial neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, and deep-learning techniques combined with novel specialty optical fibers as well as advanced photonic signal processing technologies and applications such as sensing, spectroscopy, and imaging have revolutionized healthcare, automotive industry, defense, and security.
This special session aims to follow up on the most recent, novel findings, and understanding of basic principles, advanced techniques, and applications of specialty optical fibers and advanced photonic signal processing technologies and applications with AI, including but not limited to the following topics:
- AI-based signal processing and recognition for fiber sensing and its application
- Specialty optical fibers and random photonic structure for spectrometer
- AI-related photonic techniques for fiber lasers
- AI-related techniques for optical computing and imaging
- AI-related techniques for optical communications
- AI-powered design for fibers and integrated photonic circuits
- Photonic AI systems and chips
