Venues

This year, the 2022 IEEE PowerAfrica conference is co-hosted at two locations by higher-education centres of excellence in teaching and research: the University of Rwanda and Carnegie Mellon University Africa. The schedules are as follows:

  • Monday 22 August: College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda
  • Tuesday-Thursday 23-25 August: Carnegie Mellon University Africa (lower building)

University of Rwanda

The University of Rwanda Nyarugenge campus, home to the College of Science and Technology, offers the starting place for Day 1 and Day 5 of the conference. Tutorials, a plenary session, and evening networking reception will be held near the central business district in Kigali, home to municipal government, important memorials, and luxury hotels.

Special Economic Zone

Days 2,3, and 4 of the conference will take part at the Carnegie Mellon University Africa campus, which is part of Kigali Innovation City, an ecosystem of game-changing startups, innovative companies, financial investors, academia, and support services, found in the Special Economic Zone north of the Kigali International Airport.  Exhibition space, graduate and innovation forums, plenary sessions and technical tracks of the conference will take place at CMU, with bus and electric bike transportation being provided from selected hotels in Kigali to the Special Economic Zone.
