As power and energy technology sectors are rapidly changing, the global transformation in these sectors needs to be accelerated to achieve sustainability and to limit climate change. The transition to a sustainable future is seemingly evident through rapidly reducing renewable energy costs, greatly improved energy efficiencies, increasing use of “smart” technologies, and wide applications of energy storage. With this ongoing transition, there is an increasing pressure to integrate new energy technologies and systems into the existing infrastructure. Further effort needs to be placed in power, energy and transport sectors to accelerate the progress of the transition to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. For example, in the power sector, new technologies to address power grid stability and new ways of enhancing the capabilities of power systems are required to have a stable and cheaper electricity supply. In the transport sector, new technologies such as electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and vehicles fuelled by hydrogen and the new ways of supporting these technologies from the electricity distribution grids will be a game changer that will spur investment and thus driving the nation into a cleaner transport future which can be achieved by increased utilisation of sustainable energy resources and emission-free energy generation technologies.
The IEEE International Conference on Energy Technologies for Future Grids (IEEE ETFG 2023) is the first biennial conference to be organized by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC) in Energy Technologies for Future Grids in collaboration with six Australian Universities and fifteen Industries. The ARC Training Centre in Energy Technologies for Future Grids (ARC Future Grids ITTC) is sponsored by the Federal Government through ARC Industrial Transformation Research Program (ITRP) and co-funded by the NSW State Government, and Universities and Industries from five different States of Australia. The IEEE ETFG 2023 Conference is 100% fianacial sponsored by the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). The theme of the conference is “Challenges, Solutions, and Opportunities for Industrial Transformation”, which is relevant to many IEEE Societies such as IEEE IAS, IEEE IES, and IEEE PES. The IEEE ETFG 2023 conference values diversity and inclusion across all activities.
Authors are invited to submit full-length papers. Appropriate conference tracks have been designed for the Conference. IEEE ETFG 2023 has six tracks; each track plays a key role in the global energy transformation in the energy sector: Track One – Future Grid Energy Technologies; Track Two – Power and Energy Transformation and Utilisation; Track Three – Power and Energy Enabling Technologies; Track Four – Power Grid Planning and Operation; Track Five – Future Grids with Electric Vehicles; and, Track Six – IoT and Communication for Energy Technologies.
The review process has been designed to be rigorous, with at least two independent and unbiased reviewers will evaluate the quality of the submitted paper. The review process is single blind and we are using Microsoft CMT for handling the submissions electronically. We have a large database of well-known academicians and industry personnel who are available to act as reviewers based on their research interests and expertise. The Technical Program Committee includes well-known senior professors and professors from all over the globe. All the papers will be screened for quality.
Wollongong, Australia, is just 80 km away from metropolitan Sydney city. Public and privately arranged transports are available from Sydney Airport to Wollongong. Taxi services can also be used to reach Wollongong. Wollongong has good local hotels/motels to accommodate international guests. Wollongong is surrounded by multiple tourist attractions. It is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive with rich history and beautiful natural attractions. It has beautiful beaches with a dramatic backdrop of green and sandstone of the Illawarra Escarpment.
I welcome you to come and visit the beautiful city of Wollongong and participate in IEEE ETFG 2023 program designed carefully for industry and academia.
Yours Sincerely
Kashem Muttaqi, General Chair
