AGE OF INNOVATION

OVERVIEW

YESIST12: AGE OF INNOVATION 2021 is an international Talent Show jointly organized by Madras IEEE Education Society Chapter and Madras SSIT Chapter, hosted in partnership with IEEE sections, Universities and leading technology industry companies. The challenge is conducted to recognize the best social innovation application on the theme given as per the guidelines of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The competition is held in two stages: Preliminary Competition (in the pilot level) and Final Competition. Preliminary competition is organized as satellite competitions in several countries all over the world while the finals are held in a selected country. In the virtual mode both satellite as well as Final competitions will be held virtually.

The dates for the final competitions are scheduled as 18th and 19th of September 2021

There are five tracks in the final competition and the competition can be laid down as a step by step process as follows

Presentation Schedule

Innovation Challenge

Pilots are selected all over the world for conducting the prelims of this track. The Organizing committee announces the call for pilots for the various countries and interested individual/IEEE member/IEEE section/Universities/industry can act as the host for the competition.  If an individual is hosting, the organization to which he/she is affiliated will be taken as the Pilot.  The steering committee will assign a committee member as the additional Jury to maintain fairness and equality in assessment across the pilots. Participants are expected to show innovation and uniqueness in the project for assessment.

Maker Fair

Call for Maker Fair is released as an open call and any team having a working prototype of a solution coming under the theme can apply for this. When applying the team must submit an abstract of the project and the teams are being selected based on this abstract for the final competition.  The team is expected to produce a product at the finals and not a project.

Junior Einstein

This is open for students under 17 years of age. Call for Abstract submission is released in early April and the teams will be shortlisted for the finals by evaluating the abstracts. The selected teams must demonstrate and present their solutions in the final competition. This is supported by Rotary Club of Coimbatore West.

Special Track

Started as the virtual track, the original aim of the track was to help the innovators from countries where there are no pilots. But this has been renamed as special track with special themes covering the themes not covered in the other tracks.

WePOWER

WePOWER track has been introduced in 2019 in collaboration with the World Bank Group on Energy and Extractives to support greater participation of women in engineering and promote normative change regarding women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.
