James Formea joined Cooper Power Systems in 2007, and held various positions in marketing and engineering before moving into his current role as Engineering Manager – Controls Systems & Technology in Eaton’s Power Systems Division. In this role, Mr. Formea leads a diverse team of engineers in the specification, implementation, and field support of system protection, communications, automation, and cybersecurity features across Eaton’s portfolio of medium voltage distribution system controls. Mr. Formea first became involved with the University of Illinois Information Trust Institute activities through TCIPG in 2103, and has remained involved with the program through the CREDC transition in recent years, joining the Industry Advisory Board in 2017. Mr. Formea earned his B.S. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Mr. Formea is also a member of the IEEE and ISSA, and participates in the standards development work of IEC Technical Committee 57 and the IEEE Power System Communications & Cybersecurity Committee.
