Instructions for Authors

Prospective authors are invited to electronically submit their papers in English, not exceeding six (6) pages using the IEEE format. All papers, including the ones for special sessions and workshops should adhere to the guidelines described here and will be included in IEEE Xplore.

Papers must describe original and unpublished work on the topics of the Conference. Submissions will be judged on suitability, originality, significance, correctness, validation, thoroughness, replicability, and clarity. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least 2 experts in the field. Final versions of accepted papers must take into account reviewers comments.

Papers may be presented orally or as posters, as determined by the Technical Program Chairs. Decisions on presentation format will be based on the nature rather than the quality of the work. There will be no distinction in the proceedings between full papers presented orally and as posters. Accepted papers will also be included in the Conference Proceedings and will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore.

All submissions must be in A4-sized PDF. All fonts and subsets must be embedded. Detailed examples about paper formatting are available in the LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates below. When using these files, please double-check the paper size in your page setup to make sure you are using the A4-size paper layout. The LaTeX environment files specify suitable margins, page layout, text, and a bibliography style.

The paper submission of MMSP 2020 is handled by ConfTool conference management tool. In order to submit your contribution, you will need to create a user account in the ConfTool system. You can find ConfTool’s instructions for Submitting Authors here. If you already have a user account, you can log in with your username and password under “Registered Users”.

The final, camera-ready, paper submission of MMSP 2020 is handled by ConfTool conference management tool. In order to submit your camera-ready manuscript, use the same user account for submitting your draft for review. Log in with your username and password under “Registered Users”.

You have to accomplish two tasks:

• Submit your final pdf manuscript through the ‘Final Upload’ link
• Sign the IEEE Copyright Form through the ‘Electronic Copyright Form’ link

Create the final manuscript in PDF following the formatting instructions and templates given above.

Before Creating a PDF 

In addition to signing in the electronic copyright form, add the appropriate copyright notice to the bottom of the first page of your source document. More specifically, in place of the XXX-X-XXXX-XXXX-X/XX/$XX.XX insert one of the following

• For papers in which all authors are employed by the US government, the copyright notice is: U.S. Government work not protected by U.S. copyright
• For papers in which all authors are employed by a Crown government (UK, Canada, and Australia), the copyright notice is: 978-1-7281-9320-5/20/$31.00 ©2020 Crown
• For papers in which all authors are employed by the European Union, the copyright notice is: 978-1-7281-9320-5/20/$31.00 ©2020 European Union

Creating your PDF eXpress Account

Log in to the IEEE PDF eXpress site

First-time users should do the following:

1. Select the New Users – Click Here link.
2. Enter the following:
   • 48831X for the Conference ID;
   • Your email address;
   • A password.

Continue to enter information as prompted. An Online confirmation will be displayed and an email confirmation will be sent verifying your account setup.

Previous users of PDF eXpress need to follow the above steps, but should enter the same password that was used for previous conferences. Verify that your contact information is valid.

Contacting PDF eXpress Support

Access the Publications Support Center for IEEE PDF eXpress. If you do not find an answer in the Find Answers tab, go to the Ask A Question tab. Your question will be forwarded to IEEE PDF Support and answered within 3 business days.

Authors are requested to prepare and upload a video of their presentation, comprised of a brief introduction with webcam, if desired, followed by voice over slides.

This will be posted within the presentation time slot on the MMSP 2020 on-demand virtual platform. The file must be a video file in MP4 format (more details below), and slides of the presentation should be in PDF format.

Our recommended approach to record a compatible video from content displayed on your computer screen and voice recorded via the computer microphone, is to record the presentation using Zoom, available to users on most platforms and in most countries:

For Authors located in China who are unable to access Zoom for free, use of the free software OBS, which allows also to capture simultaneously yourself while speaking and your slides:

In order for videos to be verified by the technical program committee, there is considerable urgency in preparing and uploading your video.

Authors are asked to finalize and upload their videos and presentations no later than August 31, 2020. This is a HARD DEADLINE. Presentations will not be accepted after this date.

Please note the final specifications will be checked at the time of submission and files not compliant may not be uploaded.

Please be sure the video includes the title of the paper, the authors, and a mention to MMSP 2020.

Guidelines for submitting your presentation:

• Follow the link you have received via email to submit the following items:
  • Speaker Photo
  • Speaker Bio
  • PDF Slides for your presentation
  • MP4 Video File (150MB Max)
• Check that your Identifier matches your Presentation/Paper ID
• Select the speaker who will be present at the conference to present your paper and answer questions

You will receive a submission link and additional information to submit your work no later than Friday, August 20^th. Please prepare your presentation and additional submission data prior to the submission deadline.

Presentation of accepted papers will take place in live oral and poster sessions. An oral presentation is of the format 10+5 minutes, consisting of the presentation (10 minutes) and Q&A (5 minutes). A poster presentation is of format 5+0 minutes, consisting only of the presentation (essentially teasing the poster).

Sessions will be followed by breakrooms, one breakroom per session, where authors are expected to be present for one hour to answer questions and discuss their papers.

We are looking forward to making MMSP 2020 a success within this virtual conference format. We thank all participants for their cooperation in this endeavor.

Accepted papers MUST be presented at the conference by one of the authors, or, if none of the authors are able to attend, by a qualified proxy, approved at least two weeks in advance of the conference dates by the TPC co-chairs. In case a paper is not presented at the workshop, it shall be deemed a “no-show.” For the poster session, in case there is no speaker in front of a poster, this implies a “no-show” (one of the authors should be present at the beginning and for most of entire poster session, for the introduction of the paper and answering questions). No-show papers will not appear on IEEE Xplore following the IEEE No-Show Policy. Exceptions to this policy will be made by the MMSP 2020 Technical Program Chairs only if there is evidence that the no-show occurred because of unanticipated events beyond the control of the authors, and that every option available to the authors to present the paper was exhausted.
