The 2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium will take place from October 6th to 9th in Glasgow, Scotland. Through the work of Professor Ian Donald and his colleagues at the University of Glasgow, this historic city has a rightful claim to be a birth place of medical ultrasound imaging, with the first paper on its use in obstetrics published in the Lancet in 1958. Some of Professor Donald’s equipment can be seen in the University’s Hunterian Museum and IEEE IUS 2019 will be held a 20-minute walk away at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), including the well-named Armadillo, on the north bank of the River Clyde. The SEC is only 15 minutes on foot from Glasgow city centre and is well-served by public transport, including its own railway station stop, with many hotels and other facilities on the same campus and Glasgow Science Centre, the UK’s largest, just across the river. Glasgow is a highly appropriate host for IEEE IUS 2019 and abstracts are now sought, describing original research in the field of ultrasonics and closely related topics, for presentation in oral or poster format. We believe IEEE IUS 2019 will be as lively and exciting as any recent symposia and look forward to welcoming you here!
