Mary Ann Saunders
Mary Ann Saunders is a member of the Senior Professional Staff at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Mary Ann has a technical background in radio frequency communication systems and systems engineering. She serves as the Assistant Group Supervisor for the Tactical Communication Systems Group where she focuses on developing communications and networking capabilities for special users to counter emerging threats. Mary Ann has an extensive background leading projects to develop quick reaction communications capabilities and deliver them to deployed operators.
Mary Ann earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (’11) from Lehigh University and a Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering (’13) from Johns Hopkins University.
Mary Ann has been involved in the Diversity Resource Team at APL for five years and led the team in 2018. During this time, she implemented several new initiatives to enhance diversity and inclusion within the organization. In addition, Mary Ann has served as a mentor to underrepresented high school students participating in APL’s College Prep Program since 2011.
