Norberto Lerendegui holds a degree of Electromechanical Engineering with Electronic Orientation (1984) from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, a degree of Master of Electronic Engineering [with honors] (1986) from the Netherlands Universities Foundation (NUFFIC), Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and the International Engineering Educator (ING.Paed.IGIP) title (2017) issued by the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy.
He has 22 years of continuous professional activity in the Development, Registration (FDA [USA], ANMAT [Argentina], CE), Manufacture and Installation of Medical Equipment for the biomedical engineering industry, where he held the positions of Engineering Manager at GALIX S.R.L. (1987-1995), R&D Manager at GBI International Corporation (USA and Argentina) (www.galix-gbi.com) (2000-2007), After-Sales and Technical Service Manager at JAEJ S.A. (www.jaej.com.ar) (1995-1999) and firmware leader designer at ORLIGHT (www.orlightlaser.com) (2009-2012).
He also has more than 35 years of academic activity at university level, teaching in, developing, directing, and managing undergraduate and graduate university programs. He was professor at Favaloro University (UF) (www.favaloro.edu.ar), full professor and undergraduate program director at University of Belgrano (UB) (www.ub.edu.ar), and full professor, Biomedical Engineering Department head and dean at Buenos Aires Institute of Technology (ITBA) (www.itba.edu.ar), where he directed and evaluated undergraduate final projects and thesis for 17 years. He has been visiting professor at the School of Bioengineering of the National University of Entre Rios (UNER) (www.bioingenieria.edu.ar) since 1991. He is currently Academic Secretary and full professor at the School of Science and Technology of the National University of San Martin (UNSAM) (www.unsam.edu.ar).
He was invited to conduct 41 conferences and workshops in Argentina and Latin America, has 25 publications in specialized journals and 24 presentations in congresses. He has been member of Scientific Committees in 9 National and International Congresses and member of the Organizing Committee of 4 National and International Congresses, including the IEEE-EMBS International Congress held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2010. Additionally, he was chair of the Biomedical Engineering Committee of the Argentine Federation of Cardiology and member of the Executive Committee of COPITEC (Professional Council of Telecommunication, Electronics and Computer Engineering).
He is Senior Member of IEEE and member of several IEEE technical societies. He has been an IEEE volunteer since 1991 and is cofounder and first chair of the EMBS Argentine Chapter. He holded several IEEE positions at national, regional, and international level, such as: Argentina Section chair (2005-2006), Regional Director (2014-2015) and Chair/vice chair of the IEEE Ethics and Member Conduct Committee (2021 and 2020, respectively). In March 2022 he was recipient of the “Latin American Eminent Engineer” award.

DESCRIPTION

Professional ethics addresses the behavior of technologists in professional life: i) the way we treat our colleagues, from bullying to plagiarism, ii) the way we approach our work, for example: how we respond to bribes, iii) how or whether we think about the technology we work on, such as our concern for its safe use.

The IEEE Ethics & Member Conduct Committee advises the IEEE Board of Directors on ethics policy and concerns, as well as fosters awareness on ethical issues and promotes ethical behavior among individuals and organizations working within the IEEE fields of interests

Ing. Laureano Correa

Laureano Correa is a chemical engineer and a graduate in philosophy, professor of bioethics and ethics assistant at the UNS. He also works as a teacher in the “International Certification Program for Engineering Educators” of the InnovaHiEd-IGIP Institute. He has presented several papers at conferences and conferences, and has published the chapter “Avatars of morality: Nietzsche-Deleuze” in the book “Crisis of Metaphysics. Nihilism and overcoming”. He is a member of the Center for Bioethical Research of the Department of Humanities of the National University of the South, Bahía Blanca, and of the Center for Studies in Philosophy of Culture of the Department of Humanities of the National University of Comahue, Neuquén. His current research concerns mainly ethics, the philosophy of culture and the philosophy of technology.
