TYPES OF ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED
Although this Congress, with 21 main themes and more than 300 sub-themes, may embrace many activities, these are the ones that are available at the ARGENCON 2022.
PAPER PRESENTATION
It consists of the oral presentation of the accepted paper (work). The lecturer must be one of the authors of the paper. Nevertheless, the presentation can have more than one lecturer. In general, they are done with the help of slides. They, in general, are short presentations, in the ARGENCON they will last 20 minutes, where 15 minutes are for the presentation, specifically, and the rest 5 minutes are left for interaction with attendants.
LECTURE OR PRESENTATIONS
It is the oral presentation of a theme, in a unique session. Although it may include the use of slides, it can be done without using visual means. Generally, there is only one lecturer but it is possible to count with more than one. They usually last no more than 50 minutes, depending on the importance of the theme, this can be extended and it will depend on the organizers criteria.
KEYNOTE
These are lectures given by a person which has been selected by the outstanding merits, to establish the guiding thread of the Congress. It may include the presentation of one or two key ideas which define the event. The keynotes are usually used after the opening ceremony of the Congress.
PLENARY
It is the activity done without having a parallel one at the same time. For example, a plenary lecture for closing the Congress must be done before an important auditorium, as it is the only activity of that moment it gathers most of the attendants of the event.
COURSE
It consists of giving contents in the form of classes or chairs with formal and theoretical contents with the depth concerning the matter. Lecturers usually have the total control and the students of the curse adopt a passive role more than active. If it takes the form of a chair, the lecturer transmits knowledge, theories, concepts and conceptual models through the use of digital presentations, books, boards. The duration may be varied, and it can last more than a day covering various sessions.
SEMINARY
It is a meeting where a determined theme is developed in depth; in general, it covers teaching and updating themes of the attendants. It deals about a theme, but with a significant depth, more than the one that may be offered at a course. If it counts with more than one lecturer, there is a possibility of presenting an individual point of view from a specific area. One aim of this seminar, differently from the course is that the attendants can start discussions about the theme. They have less use of laboratories and equipment than in a workshop. In general, they do not exceed a working day but they may involve various sessions.
TUTORIAL
These are classes that may gather a reduced group of students or attendants, so as to allow grouped discussions over the lecturer`s theme. They can or not include practical activities. Recently, some congresses offer a combination of both first a tutorial class with the participation of attendants is offered, then a workshop related which constitutes the practice of the theme.
WORKSHOP
It consists of giving practical contents in the form of classes based on the experience. Conceptually, it will be the equivalent of a course, but with the emphasis in practical contents. Formers act as guides, which in general give content searching the easiest way but the responsible for learning turns to be students. The duration can be varied, they can last more than a day involving various sessions.
DISCUSSION PANEL
A discussion panel consists of a discussion, virtual or alive, about a specific theme, within a specific theme, between selected groups of panelists which share different perspectives in front of a large audience. The panel is generally facilitated by a “moderator” which guides the panel and public through the event. The panel is generally composed by 3 or 4 experts or professionals in the field, who share facts, offer opinions and respond to questions of the audience through some of them selected by the moderator, or taken from the audience directly. The session of the panel lasts from 60 to 90 minutes.
